Brian Sharp

Foundation Governor

Term of Office: 4 years until 31st August 2020

I have recently retired and enjoying the freedom which that gives. I am a chartered civil engineer, and previously worked as a project manager for a utility company managing large projects to improve the service to customers.

My working life exposed me to the management of finances, legal and contractual matters, health, safety and well-being, stakeholders and the management and development of teams, all skills which are used in the governor role of supporting the development of the school, and holding the school leadership to account.

I am an active member of Holy family Parish, and my two children attended Ladymount some years ago. I have been a foundation governor for a number of years, and I am privileged to be chair of the governing body. I am passionate about maintaining the very special ethos and nature of our school within the ever changing educational environment.

I am very proud of the service we provide to the children in our care.

Ian Wheeler

Elected Parent Governor

Term of Office: 4 years until the end of August 2023

Our family have been connected with Ladymount since the school began, my children have attended Ladymount since 2011 and I have been a Governor since 2015.

I am Chair of the Curriculum and Pupil Welfare Committtee and the Admissions Committee, in addition I am a member of the Pay & Personnel Committee; the committees provide strategic, and operational oversight of the school which enables me to fulfill my role as a Governor. I support the school to continue its drive for positive outcomes for pupils without losing all that makes Ladymount such a special place to learn.

With a professional background in financial services and payment technology, I have experience with the implementation of policies, procedures, training and internationally recognised quality standards. In 2015 i sold my financial services business and launched a business consultancy based in Heswall. Additionally, for the last 18 months I I have been building another payment technology business. When not at work, I coach both of my sons Heswall Junior football and enjoy playing football, running and playing golf (badly!). I am very flexible with my time and make myself available to support Ladymount.

I approach schoolGovernor tasks with enthusiasm, utilising my networking and entrepreneurial skill to help Ladymount meet future objectives.

Sheena Manley

Elected Staff Governor

Term of Office: 4 years until 31st August 2019

I have been associated with Ladymount Catholic School since 1984 and a Governor here for over 25 years.  I currently serve on the Curriculum and the Admission Committees.  I have worked within the school community for 35 years, mainly as a Teaching Assistant. My 5 children attended Ladymount and 10 of my 12 grandchildren are either past pupils, present pupils or will be attending our Pre-School.  My eldest son was a member of the first intake of the newly formed Pre-School in 1984 and I have been a member of their Voluntary Management Committee for many years.

Over the years I have acquired many skills relating to education and also to school governance.  I am a practicing Catholic with a long association with Holy Family Parish and have a good local knowledge.  I know many of the families in our school community and am delighted to meet so many of our past pupils, who are now bringing their own children to Ladymount.

Mark Goulding

I am currently Vice-Chair of the Governing Body and Chair of the Resources Committee.  I also serve on the Pay and Personnel Committee.

As a parishioner of Our Lady and St John, Heswall and a parent of two boys within the school, I really appreciate the opportunity I have to help our children achieve their full potential through a Catholic Education.  As a qualified accountant with 20 years experience within the Public Sector, I focus on the financial aspects of the school, ensuring we get the best value from the resources we have.  I've really enjoyed my role over the past 6 years and I look forward to contributing to the continued success of the school in the future.

Suzanne Loyden

Foundation Governor

Term of office: 4 years until 31st August 2021

I am a relative newcomer to Ladymount , having moved back to Wirral from Liverpool in 2013. My two children started in year 3 and year 5 and we all received a very warm welcome from the Ladymount community. Now that both children have moved on to secondary school, we continue to be involved in the community through Holy Family parish, and it is a pleasure to have the opportunity to remain involved with the school as a foundation governor.

I am a chartered accountant by background and I moved into school business management in 2009. I have ten years’ experience as a school governor from my time in Liverpool, and I look forward to being able to use my skills and experience to help Ladymount continue to develop and flourish.

I am a Foundation Governor, who has been a member of Our Lady and St. John’s parish for nearly 30 years and I have three children within the school.

My goal is to ensure that the Catholic Ethos runs throughout the school to produce an environment where the children thrive both educationally and spiritually.

I hope that the experience I have gained through my career within the pharmaceutical industry will prove beneficial to the school and its governing body to help achieve this goal. I am a member of the Resources committee.

I’m actively involved in the ‘Wirral Country Park junior parkrun’ held at every Sunday at 9am for children under 14s. I enjoy cycling and swimming and used to play a lot of rugby until I got too old!!

Ben Vickerstaff

I am a parent governor with two boys in the school. I work in the NHS as a manager. I have a range of knowledge, skills and experience that are relevant to the role including: management and leadership; delivery against targets; HR responsibilities; financial management; governance.  I have previously been a Speech and Language Therapist and have supported a number of schools in this regard.

I decided to become a parent governor as I have lots of energy and enthusiasm and feel that I have something useful to contribute. I love getting involved with people and really value the early years of education.

I feel a real connection with the school and the ethos of the school. My boys are both happy and motivated in a positive and nurturing environment. I have made great links and friendships with many other parents and feel in a great position to represent the views of others. I strive to support the school to the best of my abilities.

Chris Whitehead

Term of office: until August 2020

My two daughters and my son attended Ladymount between 2005 and 2018 and I was privileged to serve as a parent governor for 4 years before becoming a Foundation Governor in 2016.

My experience as a doctor and departmental head in the NHS helps me to understand the financial pressures and performance standards faced by the staff of Ladymount.   I have a special interest in healthcare leadership and as a Governor I want use these skills to help ensure that even in these difficult times, the staff are supported in maintaining the ethos of the school while they help our children reach their full potential. I am also the Governor for Safeguarding.

As well as being a family taxi driver, I enjoy cycling, watching football and cricket and very occasionally playing golf. I also play the organ at Our Lady & St John’s Church and for several years I helped the PTA – usually by being on the barbeque at the School Fair.
